File Synchronization
You can start EFCN by doubleclicking on the file efcombatnet.jar, which can be located anywhere on your harddrive.
Each time you start EFCN, it compares all files on the server with those present on your harddrive and automatically downloads new or changed files. This way, you always start up with the newest version of EFCN.
You can see the target directory of all EFCN files, which is set to the OS specific user directory. This one can differ for each Operating System (Windows, Linux, MacOSX..) and language.

Deinstallation
EFCN does not (and cannot) interfere with your operating system. EFCN can uninstall itself. You just can select the menuitem "Uninstall EFCN" from the options menu. Alternatively you also can just delete the directory, where the EFCN files are located on your harddrive.
When you start EFCN under the Windows Operating System, it will NOT modify the registry. The Windows specific DLL file efcn.dll is only used by EFCN and not published elsewhere.

First start of EFCN
When you start EFCN for the first time, you have to create a new account. You just have to enter a [unique] callsign, your preferred language, and optionally you can add your squad and your email address.
From inside EFCN you can see the list of all known callsigns. However if you also have entered [your] email address, its kept private.
When you start EFCN the second or later time, the login dialog will come up with the login text entered by you as default. In this case, just type return two times and you're logged in.

The EFCN Desktop
Below you see the EFCN desktop, how it can look like with the default theme.
As you can see above, it has a menu from which you can enter the specific game rooms. To the right you see the tree-view frame, which shows all currently connected users including yourself and lets you interact with them too. On the bottom you see the message frame and the results frame. The message frame contains a realtime messageboard. When you enter a message into it, the messageboard is at once updated on all running EFCN clients and is saved into the server database too. The results frame should display the results of all sorties, but isn't fully functional yet.
